The Almeida Theatre's Artistic Director Rupert Goold talks to the writer Beth Steel whose play The House of Shades was due to go into rehearsals at the Almeida just as the lockdown hit. She talks about her unconventional route to becoming a writer and the need for theatre to have more working-class voices.
Beth won Most Promising Playwright at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards, and her play Wonderland was shortlisted for The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.
